What is this thing?!

I feel like every blog deserves something of an intro. But you probably don't really care, do you? Too bad.

Who am I? I'm Rach. I'm just your average redhead in her [really] late twenties who just really loves food. I cook and bake for fun... and because, you know, people need to eat to live. Most of the time I come up with awesome creations. Sometimes I flat out fail. And sometimes, I just would rather go eat pizza.

So, what is this? This is my food blog. This is my place to explore cooking ideas, baking fun, nummy restaurants, and kitchen fiascoes. And you get to come along for the ride. Sounds fun, right?

But why is it called "Just Put a Little Cornstarch In It?" Good question. Once when I was learning to cook I screwed up the consistency of just about everything I made - from sauces to chilies (Did y'all know the plural form of chili had an e in it? So weird. And yes, I totally just had to look that up) to candy that wouldn't set up. It wasn't my fault. Textures are hard. But, I digress. Anyway, rather than admit failure and scrap the foodstuffs with the fouled up consistency, I placed a lot of stock in the thickening powers of corn starch. My answer to anything and everything that had the wrong consistency was "Eh, just put a little cornstarch in it, it'll be fine." It became a running joke in my kitchen and the standard answer for anything that went wrong. Food on fire? Eh, just put a little cornstarch in it. It'll be fine. So when it came time to name the food related blog it was the first thing to come to mind. And now its forever commemorated on the interwebs. Awww.
